What we offer:
Tap
- A chance for your budding dancer to comprehend rhythms and time phrases. At starshine we encourage tap dancing from the very beginning at just 2 years old. Tap is a foundation, a style that can mould your dancer to hear the beat and create music with their feet!
Modern Jazz
- A firm favourite in class, modern jazz teaches the power and strength of performance guiding your dancer to kick leap and turn across the floor. Modern Jazz is great for enhancing stamina and building a great skill set in dancers.
Song and dance
- This genre explodes creativity into the room. Children tell and story through song and dance, a chance for roll play, dancers can become a character learning to act and express through characterisation. In the industry having the ability to sing, dance and act is crucial for success.
Acro
- Another firm favourite. Acrobatic dance is very similar to the floor exercise in gymnastics. Dancers will learn tricks and tumbles while building strength and flexibility to enhance the other disciplines. We are very excited to announce we are now an official acro pad centre! With Acro pads equipment we can train our dancers to have every skill needed under their belt by the time they graduate from us.
Lyrical
- A moment to slow down and understand emotions. Lyrical pays such a huge part in a dancers journey. It’s a continuous movement showcasing fluidity and emotion. Sometimes as dancers get into their teenage years they struggle to express their emotions. Lyrical allows these young dancers to express their emotions through their love of dance.
Ballet
- The core foundation of dance. Ballet is the most important genre of a dancers journey. Ballet teaches dancers the core, strength and stability needed to securely and safely progress as a dancer.
Character
- A chance for dancers to act through dance, character is a classical based subject where dancers portray a story using classical technique.
Greek
- Stemming from Ancient Greek mythology. Dancers can explore this different genre of dance focusing on strength and alignment.
National
- National gives dancers the opportunity to perform a dance native to a different country. It allows the dancer to learn different origins of dance and further their understanding on the history and culture of the sport they are so passionate about.
Commercial
- Commercial is a new and upcoming style loved by all. Some would call it a fusion of modern and hip hop allowing the dancers to throw everything into it. A style less focused on routine and more so pushing out of your comfort zone. Commercial is now a huge part of the industry and an important style to add to a dancers portfolio.
Contemporary
- Similar to lyrical, contemporary is a journey of emotions. However with less fluidity and more power contemporary is know for highlighting modern day issues and heart felt story’s that are appropriate to our dancers at the time. It’s a time for dancers to forget the outside world and take a moment to express through dance.
